Entrepreneurship Grad Steers the Future of Marketing

Earlier this fall Direct Marketing News named Mason Thelen ’04 to its list of the country’s 40 most influential marketers under age 40. It’s pretty impressive, considering he switched out of his marketing major at St. Thomas. He credits that change as part of the reason he was able to start eight successful businesses before he turned 30.

How a Psychology Major Changed his Career with an MBA

For Quinten McGruder ’04, ’07 M.A., ’11 M.B.A., the goal of the UST MBA program is to prepare students to make business decisions, familiarize them with the vocabulary of the field and help them feel more comfortable in any kind of business environment – a goal that for him, the program has met. “You’re not going to leave knowing everything, but I think at least what it’s going to do is help you to either find someone who will know the answer or know which questions to ask in any given situation.”

The Engineer MBA – Q&A with John McCall

John McCall ’78 M.B.A. has an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering and went to work for 3M and later for Ecolab, as a chemical engineer, before coming to St. Thomas to pursue an M.B.A. He returned to St. Thomas in 2009 in his current role as associate dean and CFO, of the Opus College of Business. We sat down with McCall to learn more about why he decided to earn an M.B.A. and what the degree has done for him.
