The Hispanic Pre-College Project of the University of St. Thomas, in collaboration with the Science Museum of Minnesota and the National Latino Children’s Institute, plans to celebrate El Día de los Niños with children’s and family activities on Saturday, April 29, at the Science Museum of Minnesota.

El Día de los Niños, or the Day of the Children, is held on April 30 in many countries and the United States to honor all children. The celebration at the Science Museum of Minnesota, planned for April 29 to better accommodate the museum’s weekend visitors, will be free with museum admission.

Visitors can enjoy live mariachi music, see live dance performances, and make their own "milagritos," or cards expressing wishes, hopes and dreams. Visitors also can check out live science demonstrations by guest presenters. Food with a Latin flavor will be available for purchase at the museum’s restaurant and cafes. Activities, performances and presentations are scheduled between 1 and 4 p.m.

The Hispanic Pre College Project, an after-school and summer enrichment program serving 1-12 graders who attend school on St. Paul’s West Side, works to improve the quality of education for Hispanic youth and their families.
