Even though the Charles J. Keffer Library has been up and running since June, the library’s staff is hosting its “official” opening celebration from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7.

The library, which serves the Graduate School of Business, Graduate Department of Professional Psychology, and the School of Education, is located on the southwest side of Opus Hall at St. Thomas’ downtown Minneapolis campus.

The new library contains more than 7,600 volumes in its circulating collection, 1,600 reference books, 300 journal titles, 2,500 children’s books and 3,200 items in its curriculum collection. The library also has access to extensive electronic resources. There are 45 computers with access to the World Wide Web and 35 online databases.

The library is named for Dr. Charles Keffer, St. Thomas’ longtime provost who retired in 1998. He plans to attend the event, which includes a short program at 4 p.m. Tours and catered refreshments will be available throughout the open house.

Visit with “Charlie,” meet the new library’s staff, acquaint yourself with the great resources and enjoy the treats.
