International students graduating in May can carry their flag to represent their country

International students: Are you graduating this May? Would you like to carry your country’s flag in the commencement ceremony?

International students will be able to carry their country’s flag in the May commencement procession. If you would like to represent your country, send an e-mail to International Student Services no later than Friday, April 21.

Only one person per country and ceremony will be allowed to carry their country’s flag. The first person to sign up from a country will be that country’s flag bearer. Contact International Student Services immediately if you want to represent your country.

According to the St. Thomas Flag Policy approved by the President’s office, only flags of countries that are member states of the United Nations can be carried. Visit the United Nations Web site for a list of member states.

If you have questions, contact OISS via e-mail, call (651) 962-6650 or stop by the office in Room 161, Murray-Herrick Campus Center.
