Job Search Resources and Training Opportunities Available to Employees

In an effort to support the university’s Positioning For Our Future plan, the Office of Human Resources is coordinating a variety of job-search resources and training opportunities.

  • A series of career- and job-searching skills training sessions have been scheduled for March, April and May through the Leadership Academy and are open to all employees. Topics include identifying your skills; cover letter and resume writing; using LinkedIn; networking, elevator pitch and job-search strategies; and interviewing skills. Visit the Leadership Academy website to view and register for one or all the sessions in the series.
  • A comprehensive creative job-search guidebook will be offered to all those that attend a job-search training session.
  • A job-search resource list has been developed and will be provided at the job-search training sessions as well as posted on the Human Resource website.

In addition, the Opus College of Business is sponsoring the Forum for Workplace Inclusion from March 29-30 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The forum offers a free professional career fair and career service center that is staffed with experts from several different organizations. Coaches will be available to work with people on improving resumes, provide tips for giving a compelling elevator speech, help prepare for interviews and share best practices for successful job-search strategies.
