Knights of Columbus Thanks Food Drive Donors

The Knights of Columbus Council #11949 at the University of St. Thomas thanks everyone who participated in its Nov. 11 food drive.

The Knights dropped off more than 800 brown bags on Nov. 4 on the front steps of many houses in local neighborhoods. They collected 115 bags of food the following week when the bags were returned. The food went to the Franciscan Brothers of Peace food shelf in St. Paul. The brothers help feed 25 families on a weekly basis and a few hundred families at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The Knights also thank Cub Foods for donating the bags.

The next Knights of Columbus event will be a coat drive Tuesday, Nov. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 1. Hats, gloves, mittens, scarves and jackets will be collected and distributed to the poor and homeless in the Twin Cities. The Knights will be in the lower quad handing out hot chocolate and candy while collecting coats on both days.
