“Out of Africa: Voices of Women Writers” is the topic of the next Feminist Fridays presentation at 12:15 p.m. Oct. 22, in the Luann Dummer Center for Women, Room 103, O’Shaughnessy Educational Center.

What are the politics of women writers in Africa?

Dr. Pam Nice, Faculty Development, will discuss Egyptian short story writer Alifa Rifaat, whose subjects included Muslim women’s sexual experience. Nigerian Poet Titilola Shoneyin will talk about her experiences as a woman writing today.

Nice will give an encore presentation of her talk from 12:15 to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, in Room 450 on the Minneapolis campus.

A short reading can be picked up in advance in the women’s center.

The theme for this year’s Feminist Fridays series is “Women Making a Difference,” and the focus of the series is on women around the globe.

All are welcome. Feel free to bring your bag lunch.
