Public Safety Alert: Burglary Near Prior Avenue and Ashland Avenue

Public Safety would like to alert the University of St. Thomas community of a burglary near Prior Avenue and Ashland Avenue.

At approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, two UST students reported their residence near the intersection was burglarized. The students returned home to find their secured door forcibly opened. They noted multiple desk and dresser drawers had been gone through. One of the students reported a large amount of cash was stolen. The incident was reported to the St. Paul Police Department.

Students living in off-campus rental properties are strongly encouraged to take the time to assess their properties for safety-related issues/repairs. Landlords are required by law to keep rental units fit to live in and in reasonable repair. Pay special attention to exterior lighting, locks on doors, windows and garages. Ensure smoke detectors function properly and monitor any other potential safety concerns. Renter resources are available from Off-Campus Student Services, (651) 962-6138.
