The McCarthy Gym racquetball courts have reopened and are ready for business.
Students, faculty, staff and alumni of all skill levels are invited to join Intramural Racquetball League play from 7 to 9 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday. Both A and B leagues are available. The games provide a fun and friendly opportunity to socialize and compete.
The league offers open entry throughout the year; members may come and go as they please. At the end of each semester students will be awarded prizes based on how well they performed in league play. They will receive even more prizes at an end-of-semester tournament.
All required equipment is provided. A typical day might consist of both doubles and singles matches as well as rotation through other people who show up, so there are always plenty of matches to be found.
Students who are interested in more competitive games can join the St. Thomas Racquetball Club. The club has competed in tournaments throughout Minnesota and even traveled to Branson, Mo., in 2010 for the Intercollegiate National Tournament.
McCarthy Gym, which was remodeled over the summer, is located on the south campus west of the Anderson Parking Facility. It has an aerobics room, a weight room, two basketball courts, an elevator and locker rooms for both men and women.
For more information email Mike Williamson or Sean Cleary, or stop by McCarthy Gym any Monday or Wednesday evening.
