About the middle of the fall and spring semesters, faculty are provided the opportunity to assign “midterm grades” to their students. These grades are submitted via the university Web grading system and are viewable via Murphy Online, the Web-based student information system for students.

These grades generally are posted prior to the last day to withdraw from classes without a grading penalty. Students and advisers find them useful in assessing student progress midway through the semester; occasionally, they will help to determine whether or not a student should withdraw from a class. The grades are unofficial, do not appear on permanent student records and do not affect student grade-point averages. They are retained generally only until the final grading period ends.

Not all programs require midterm grades. Questions about midterm grades should be directed to respective instructors or academic advisers.
