School of Social Work's Spirituality Institute to offer Oct. 30 'peace training' workshop

The workshop, "Change of Heart in Song," will be offered this fall by The Spirituality Institute of the School of Social Work, a joint program of St. Catherine University and the University of St. Thomas.

Open to the public, the workshop will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, in the St. Catherine Recital Hall.

Dr. Mari Ann Graham, co-director of the institute and member of the School of Social Work faculty, will lead the interactive workshop that uses song, visual images and exercises that are designed, she said, "to awaken the positive qualities of wisdom and compassion inherent in each of us."

The workshop will serve as an introduction to what sometimes is called "peace training" developed by a Tibetan meditation master for use by those from all religions and walks of life. A more extensive peace-training workshop will be held in the spring.

Cost of the Oct. 30 workshop is $45 for professionals and $20 for students. A limited number of scholarships are available. For a registration form and more details call the School of Social Work at (651) 962-5826 or visit The Spirituality Institute Web site.
