St. Thomas Women Connect launch party set for Feb. 11

All St. Thomas alumnae are invited to attend the launch party for St. Thomas Women Connect, a new affinity group for St. Thomas alumnae whose mission is to help Tommie women to inspire and advance one another personally, professionally and spiritually, as well as give back to the St. Thomas community through networking, service and fun activities.

The launch party will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, in Room 150 (3M Auditorium), Owens Science Hall, on the university's south campus. The cost is $15, which includes wine and cheese and a $5 tax-deductible gift to the St. Thomas Women Connect Scholarship.

Associate Professor Carol Bruess will discuss her forthcoming book, What Happy Women Do, in which she focuses on the importance of relationships in women’s lives and how these relationships shape who they are. Dr. Bruess is a member of the university’s Communication and Journalism Department and director of family studies at St. Thomas. She has dedicated her career to studying interpersonal and family communication. Her first book, What Happy Couples Do, focused on married couples.
