STAR presents salsa dance lesson, Foreign Film Night Oct. 28

Feel like dancing? STAR is sponsoring a salsa-infused dance lesson at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, in Room 304, Murray-Herrick Campus Center.

Zumba Fitness was created in the mid-'90s by Colombian native Alberto " Beto" Perez, a celebrity fitness trainer and choreographer for international pop superstars. Inspired by the traditional cumbia, salsa, samba and merengue music of his youth, Beto paired his favorite Latin rhythms with the international dance steps his clients loved and Zumba Fitness (Spanish slang for "to move fast and have fun") was born.

Foreign Film Night returns to campus

Foreign Film Night is back! STAR will show the Lebanese film, "Caramel," (its Arabic title is " Sukkar Banat") at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, in 3M Auditorium, Room 150, Owens Science Hall. Delicious free food will be served.

"Caramel" revolves around the lives of five Lebanese women, each burdened with their own social and moral problems. It focuses on modern social themes. Its main setting is a beauty salon in Beirut, where women talk frankly about men, marriage and happiness. Their conversations are interspersed with touching and comical scenes.

The film has been showing to packed houses in Lebanon. This is unusual in a country where audiences usually prefer Hollywood blockbusters.
