Swimming and diving teams celebrate, honor end of era, beginning of new era

The University of St. Thomas will dive into a new era of athletics when the last swim meet ever to be held in O'Shaughnessy Hall takes place Friday, Dec. 11.

Friday's meet vs. Gustavus marks the  last one on campus until the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex is completed in 2010. The center will include an eight-lane, 25-meter pool and diving area.

In honor of the occasion, alumni of the St. Thomas men's and women's swimming and diving teams will gather from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday in the Koch Commons Fireside Lounge to honor the past and look forward to an even brighter future.

The afternoon's events include:

  • Seeing the new aquatic center under construction.
  • A program, including presentation of aquatic center rendering, at 4:30 p.m.
  • Refreshments throughout the afternoon.
  • The final O'Shaughnessy Hall Natatorium swim meet at 6 p.m.

An online R.S.V.P is requested. For more information contact Megan Jacobson, (651) 962-6912.
