Key Partnerships Help School of Education Diversify Minnesota’s Teaching Workforce

St. Thomas’ School of Education is constantly working to help increase the number of teachers of color in the classroom through various partnerships, including two with state-funded teaching preparation programs – Collaborative Urban and Greater Minnesota Educators of Color, and Grow Your Own.

‘Pathways to Inclusion: Our DEI Journey’ Panel Brings Valuable Discussion

Nearly 150 community members gathered Tuesday in O'Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium for “Pathways to Inclusion: Our DEI Journey,” a 12-person panel discussion hosted by Associate Vice President for Inclusive Excellence Kha Yang and the Office for Diversity and Inclusion.
Dr. Detra Price-Dennis, an award-winning researcher at Columbia University; lead a discussion on the topic of “Cultivating Racial Literacy in the Digital Age" as part of the School of Education's Dean's Forum on Jan. 23, 2019 at Opus Hall.

First School of Education Dean’s Forum of New School Year Happening Tuesday

Last November, School of Education Dean Kathlene Holmes Campbell launched the Dean’s Forum. Building off the work of Teachers College, Columbia University's Racial Literacy Lecture Series, the Dean’s Forum series features candid conversations on race, equity and education. The first Dean’s Forum of the new school year will take place on the Minneapolis campus at 5 p.m. Tuesday (Opus Hall rooms 201 and 202).
