“Baked Potatoes as the Way to a Prehistoric Man’s Heart: The (Barbecued) Roots of Human Evolution and Sexuality” is the title of a lecture by Dr. Greg Laden of the University of Minnesota Department of Anthropology at 3 p.m. today in 3M Auditorium of Owens Science Hall.

Cookies and pop will be available at 2:50 p.m.; everyone’s welcome.

Laden and his Harvard collaborators believe that the simplest explanation for several basic differences between humans and nonhuman primates was the advent of cooking.

Laden’s lecture is the third of four Biology Seminars this fall. Read about all of them on the Biology Seminar home page: http://tigger.stthomas.edu/biol/bioactivities/sem-fall99.htm.
