Tommies, and Lots of Them, Shine at Minnesota Private Colleges Job and Internship Fair

The Career Development Center is proud to report that St. Thomas had a record-breaking number of student registrations, more than 425, for the Minnesota Private Colleges Job and Internship Fair held Feb. 21-22.

Career Development staff wish to express their appreciation to students who attended the fair for their diligent preparation and their quality representation of St. Thomas. Many employers told staff that our students were clearly the best prepared, citing professionalism, superb introductions, prior organization research, and wonderful communication skills. This explains why employers are so impressed with our students – keep up the great work!

Congratulations also go to students who were granted interviews at the fair – we know there were many.

Preparation for the fair began in November with students attending required orientations and optional Job Fair Success Tactics seminars. They could also choose to participate in either group sessions or individual appointments on résumé development and interviewing skills. A unique event in collaboration with the Alumni Association provided students with a brief training session followed by time to network and practice professional presentation skills with alumni volunteers.

The Job and Internship Fair is a 30-year-old annual event held each February in conjunction with all of Minnesota’s private colleges. This year more than 170 employer organizations participated.
