Tommies win MIAC Football Title Outright With 38-7 win Over Carleton

St. Thomas capped a perfect regular season – and its first 10-0 season in 105 years of varsity football – with a 38-7 win over Carleton on Saturday.

In the process, the No. 4 Tommies won their first MIAC title since 1990 and first undisputed conference championship since 1983, and assured themselves of home field for the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs Nov. 20. The NCAA will announce the 32-team field on Sunday.

St. Thomas is 28-5 in Glenn Caruso’s three years as head coach, and on Saturday broke open a 7-7 game on the last play of the first half with a field goal and scored four consecutive touchdowns after intermission to put away the Knights.
