The University of St. Thomas Student Health Service has enough H1N1 flu mist vaccine on hand to hold a second vaccine clinic for St. Thomas faculty, staff and students under the age of 50. This form of the vaccine is sprayed into the nose rather than given as an injection or shot.
The vaccine will be administered from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, in Room LL02, located on the lower level of Koch Commons on the university’s St. Paul campus.
Thursday's clinic is being held in Koch Commons, instead of the Tommie Triage Trailer, so faculty, staff, students don’t have to wait in line outdoors in the cold weather.
The mist form of the vaccine also was administered at a clinic on campus Tuesday. Madonna McDermott, director of the Student Health Service and Wellness Center, said the university has received word that it will receive supplies of the injectable form of the vaccine soon.
Important: St. Thomas faculty, staff and students can receive the flu mist vaccine only if:
- They are between the ages of 18 and 49.
- They are not pregnant.
- They do not have any of the medical conditions that are listed on this Minnesota Department of Health check list. (This is a check list of conditions that would prohibit someone from receiving the H1N1 mist.)
A $10 administration fee will be charged.
