IRT will install a Microsoft Windows security update on all PCs joined to the UST domain beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22.
The update will be installed on PC systems remotely, but the process does require a complete reboot of the system once the installation has completed. For this reason, it is recommended that all users log out or restart their machines at the end of the business day, ensuring that their PCs are still powered on and connected to the UST network. Any unsaved changes on machines not logged off or restarted at the time of the installation may be lost.
The update will be queued on computers that are turned off over the weekend, and the installation and reboot process will begin the next time the systems are powered on.
According to Microsoft, the security update resolves seven privately reported and one publicly disclosed vulnerability in Internet Explorer. Please visit Microsoft’s “Security Bulletin” for specific information on this update.
Please contact the IRT Tech Desk if you have any additional questions.
