The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE), known nationally as the premier association for entrepreneurship educators, named the University of St. Thomas winner of its award for Special Recognition in Entrepreneurship Education Innovation at the 27th Annual USASBE Conference in San Francisco, Cal., in January.
The award is for the course, Foundations of Entrepreneurship, designed by Dr. Alec Johnson and Dr. Jay Ebben. In the class, students learn the concepts of opportunity scanning and opportunity recognition; conduct a self-assessment to help them better understand their personal values and aspirations to help guide their entrepreneurial career; and are exposed to the variety of types of entrepreneurial ventures.
