Ushers needed for undergraduate, graduate commencement ceremonies

Commencement ushers are needed for both undergraduate and graduate commencement ceremonies on Friday, Dec. 18. Due to the construction of the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex on the St. Paul campus, this December’s ceremonies will be held at the St. Paul RiverCentre.

Volunteers are needed to greet and welcome guests, distribute programs, help seat those with special needs, and direct guests to the reception following each ceremony.

The undergraduate ceremony begins at 3 p.m. with ushers reporting at 1:30 p.m. The graduate ceremony begins at 7 p.m. with ushers reporting at 5:30 p.m. Each ceremony usually lasts just over an hour.

While volunteers will be encouraged to carpool to downtown St. Paul, free parking in the RiverCentre ramp will be available for volunteers. An informational lunch meeting for ushers will take place in early December.

E-mail Jeff Kasimor in University Relations if interested. When responding, indicate the ceremony at which you will volunteer.
