St. Thomas Issues Statements on Rescinding of ICE Guidelines

St. Thomas President Julie Sullivan released the following statement in response to Tuesday’s news that the U.S. government has agreed to rescind Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) rules, which would have barred international students from remaining in the U.S. if their colleges and universities were forced to move classes completely online due to COVID-19.

Reaching Higher Heights

Seeing a growing need to help the local Archdiocese Latino youth aspire to higher education, in 2018 Father Joseph Williams, vicar for the Archdiocese’s Latino ministries, proposed expanding a partnership between Habiger Institute Latino Scholars and the Church of St. Stephen’s in south Minneapolis to support high schoolers in parishes who hope to pursue a four-year degree at a Catholic university, specifically with St. Thomas Catholic Studies.
