The Monthly Book Club of the Luann Dummer Center for Women will host a discussion, “Harry, Hermione, Ginny and McGonagall: A Discussion of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” by J.K. Rowling, on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
Everyone is welcome to join the group from noon to 1 p.m. in the women’s center, Room 103, O’Shaughnessy Educational Center. Students especially are invited to participate.
The book club notes that in comparison with other fantasy literature, such as Lord of the Rings or even Twilight, the Harry Potter series contains a full range of female characters; yet, the “Chosen One” is still a male. The group will discuss gender issues in the Harry Potter series.
Those who attend do not have to have read the series or even have read the book to participate. Bring a lunch and enjoy a lively conversation.
