University Announces Major Renovation for Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas

The chapel at the University of St. Thomas has served its campus well for nearly 100 years. Thanks to the generosity of donors, it will now be brought into the 21st century with expanded spaces and amenities that will serve the contemporary needs of the entire community.

Anti-Racism Coalition Writes Open Letter to St. Thomas Community

Faculty and staff members of the St. Thomas Anti-Racism Coalition have sent a letter to President Julie Sullivan and the Newsroom calling for systemic change in response to the ongoing challenges our community faces. The president, provost, and entire university leadership team is committed to undertaking the short-term and long-term work needs to ensure this moment is a meaningful inflection point in stepping up our efforts to create and sustain a diverse and inclusive community that lives our fundamental value of respecting and promoting the human dignity of all.

Sustainability Taking Center Stage at St. Thomas

When then-President Father Dennis Dease signed the the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) in 2008, he underscored St. Thomas’ ongoing and future commitment to sustainability. With the commitment of carbon neutrality by 2035, the statement included ambitious goals. In the decade since nearly every aspect of life on the university campus has been touched in some way by St. Thomas’ commitment to sustainability.

We Are Tommies – Experiencing the TV Spotlight

Well before St. Thomas' awareness campaign brought three groups of Tommies' stories to TV screens across the Midwest, the featured students and alumni stepped into the experience of being part of commercial shoots. The Newsroom asked each about their experience and what it's like to share their "We Are Tommies" story with the world.

President Emeritus Father Dennis Dease Receives National Award

Father Dennis Dease, president emeritus of St. Thomas, has received the Rev. Theodore Hesburgh Award, named after the late University of Notre Dame president, for “outstanding contributions to Catholic higher education,” from the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities.
