Student Diversity and Inclusion Services invites the St. Thomas campus community to celebrate Black History Month by attending "Daughters of Africa," a Mixed Blood Theatre performance. This free event will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, in the Anderson Student Center, Room LL 07/Dance.
"Daughters of Africa" is a music-driven celebration of the triumphs and accomplishments of African American women. Written by award-winning playwright Syl Jones, "Daughters of Africa" features women from Harriet Tubman to Lena Horne.
Mixed Blood Theatre, a professional, multiracial company, promotes cultural pluralism and individual equality through artistic excellence, using theater to address artificial barriers that keep people from succeeding in American society.
"We are very excited about the start of a new chapter for Student Diversity and Inclusion Services, and we are thrilled to continue supporting our mission by enhancing the cultural experiences of the St. Thomas community," remarked Courtney Brewster, assistant director, "and don’t forget to visit our office at our new location in Room 224 in the Anderson Student Center."
