In this series, faculty members who have received travel grants speak on their travels and related research. Lewis and Illig traveled to San Salvador Island to evaluate its suitability for developing a study abroad course that would explore how the brain and nervous systems of organisms have evolved to take advantage of different environments.

The biodiversity of the subtropical marine and terrestrial ecosystems found throughout the Caribbean provide an ideal setting for such a program. In this presentation, they hope to share their findings with the group, and to discuss some of the academic and nonacademic challenges ahead as they seek to develop this course.

The campus community is invited. Bring a lunch; light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
