Fresh, organic and nutritious vegetables from the St. Thomas Stewardship Garden will be the centerpiece of lunch at The Grill this afternoon, Wednesday, Aug. 31.
Students and faculty from Biology, Justice and Peace Studies, Environmental Studies, and CILCE have been working all summer at the garden, growing food to donate to the Dorothy Day Center in St. Paul, and to provide research and educational opportunities for students.
The Stewardship Garden is located behind Brady Educational Center on the university's south campus. In its second year of operation, the garden has donated several hundred pounds of produce to food shelves across the metro area, and it has been the basis of several summer research projects and the site of experiential education for the REAL program and Health and Human Performance classes.
Many types of vegetables are grown in the garden as well as a number of herbs.
