Tyler Schipper, an economist and associate professor in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of St. Thomas, recently spoke with WCCO-TV’s Kirsten Mitchell on what to know about a potential recession.

From the story:

Fears of a recession sent the stock market tumbling this week. Couple that with federal job cuts and unpredictable tariffs and there’s a lot of financial uncertainty right now. What is a recession? Good question. Kirsten Mitchell explores what to do if we head into one.

“It’s really crucial to have a rainy day fund, if you can. I know that is a struggle for lots of people, but it is one of the most surefire ways of protecting yourself in a recession,” said Tyler Schipper, an associate professor of economics at the University of St. Thomas.
