Bob Mulcahy, director of instructional design and technology at McGladrey, a leading assurance, tax and consulting firm, will lead a discussion on “Instructional Design Success Stories” at the Digital Learning Forum’s monthly presentation on Monday, Nov. 14.
The presentation and discussion will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Room 117, McNeely Hall. Guests can arrive at 6:15 p.m. to network with other professionals in the Twin Cities area. Invite friends and co-workers; the event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
A great deal of the power of groups like DLF is hearing each other’s success stories, large and small; however, limited speaker spots each year limit the number of stories shared widely. This month DLF will try something different and see how many success stories can be shared in an hour and a half.
To that end, participants are asked to come to DLF with a success of their own. It can be an instructional design success – something really great that you designed – or it can be a success in any aspect of instruction. Did you conceive some great visual that solved a problem? Do a great job convincing stakeholders to do the right thing? Win over a skeptical SME? Delight learners with a new technology? Repurpose an old technology? Improve efficiency?
What’s your proudest instructional moment in 2011? Share it with the group. It’s not bragging; it’s helping colleagues imagine new possibilities – that’s what DLF is all about.
Mulcahy recently wrote an article on cooperative learning and an article on simulation design. Prior to McGladrey, he spent a dozen years leading design teams at PLATO Learning. He earned his doctorate in curriculum and instruction, learning technologies, from the University of Minnesota.
The Digital Learning Forum’s monthly presentation and discussion is sponsored by the Master of Arts in Technology for Learning, Development and Change, and the Graduate Certificate in E-Learning program in the Department of Organization Learning and Development at the University of St. Thomas.
