"The Miracle Worker," the extraordinary story of Anne Sullivan and Helen Keller, will take center stage in Frey Theater at St. Catherine University Nov. 10-14. William Gibson's play tells the story of Sullivan and her deaf and blind student, Helen Keller, set in post-Civil War Alabama.

A brilliant mind trapped in an incoherent world of darkness and silence, Helen is a wild child whose family is paralyzed by pity. The Kellers' last hope is a 20 year-old governess sent from Boston's Perkins Institute for the Blind – Anne Sullivan – who possesses an equally dark past and an equally stubborn temperament. Anne is determined to tackle the impossible: teaching Helen language. The battle of wills has begun.
The production features St. Thomas students Perry Chicos, Allie Cleary, Mary Gustafson, Patrick Gustafson, Caitlin Heaney, Sam Kunz, Patrick McNamer, Franklin Wagner and Callie Wilson, and St. Kate’s students Emily Basques, Adara Bryan, Cheyfaun Bryant, Emily Hanson, Etty Hathaway, Jayne Hess, Sorrel Kaspszak, Heather Nordby and Greta Pahr.
Performances will be staged at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, through Saturday, Nov. 13, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14. The Nov. 13 performance will feature ASL interpretation and a post-show discussion.
