Luann Dummer Center for Women, Women's Studies Host Student Celebratory Reception Friday, May 4

The Luann Dummer Center for Women and the Women’s Studies Department invite the campus community to a celebratory reception on Friday, May 4. The event will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the women’s center, Room 103, O’Shaughnessy Educational Center. Refreshments will be available.

Poster presentations will be given by this year’s student research fellowship awardees:

  • Kylee Joosten, undergraduate recipient, will present her research on “Analyzing Experiences of Sexually Coercive Behavior and Instances of Self-Silencing in a Diverse Sample of Female Undergraduates” (Sociology, Dr. Lisa Waldner).
  • Sarah Muenster-Blakley, graduate recipient, will present her research on “Exhibitions for the International Community: The Photographs and Interviews of Rape Victims from Rwanda and Somalia by Jonathan Torgovnik and Fazal Shiekh” (Art History, Dr. Heather Shirey).
  • Sara Christenson, graduate recipient, will present her research on “Gender Differences in Deep Job Satisfaction” (Business, Dr. Teresa Rothausen-Vange).

Also acknowledged will be Jess Novak and Ruby Flesher, women’s studies minors who are graduating in May, and Amanda Lesnikowski, Nouchie Xiong and Rachel Macdonald, grant recipients for 2012-13.
