Tune in tonight to see the Twin Cities Public Television premiere of "A St. Thomas Christmas 2010," a nationally distributed holiday special broadcast from this year’s University of St. Thomas Christmas Concert.
The special also will air in at least 41 states across the country – from Massachusetts to Hawaii – beginning Saturday, Dec. 20.
The special will air in the Twin Cities at 7 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, Dec. 15, on TPT’s flagship station, KTCA Channel 2. The broadcast will be repeated several times both locally and nationally. View a complete schedule on the The Quad's Christmas page. Look for the link titled "PBS Broadcast Schedule" on the right sidebar.
Because not all public television stations have finalized Christmas week programming decisions, the national broadcast schedule is subject to change. Check your local listings, too.
A CD featuring music from "A St. Thomas Christmas 2010" will be available for purchase. To order yours, print and complete the order form and return it with a check made payable to the University of St. Thomas. CDs will be mailed in February.
St. Thomas hosted two performances of its 23rdannual Christmas concert, "All My Heart This Night Rejoices,” on Dec. 5 in Minneapolis’ Orchestra Hall. The concert, with a program of choral and instrumental music for the Advent and Christmas seasons, featured nearly 300 student performers in seven of the university’s vocal and instrumental ensembles: Chamber Singers, Concert Choir, Liturgical Choir, Women’s Choir, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Brass Choir and Handbell Choir.
“A St. Thomas Christmas 2010” features sacred music for the season, including traditional favorites such as “O Holy Night” and “Hark! The Herald-Angels Sing” and Hispanic carols “Convidando esta la noche” and “Los Reyes Magos,” in addition to several modern pieces.
