St. Thomas students will have the opportunity today to meet some of the people who make their Alta Gracia school apparel. Alta Gracia is a sweatshop-free company that pays living wages to its employees and guarantees a safe work environment. The Alta Gracia line recently was added to the UST Bookstore.
Students for Justice and Peace will host a Skype conference today, Thursday, Oct. 27, with Alta Gracia workers – live from the Dominican Republic. Don’t speak Spanish? Don’t worry; a translator will be present.
The conference will be held at noon in Room 01, lower level, John R. Roach Center for the Liberal Arts.
This event provides an opportunity to talk to workers whose lives are improved by the purchase of Alta Gracia clothing.
