Registration Begins for Campus Climate Facilitator Workgroups

Members of the University of St. Thomas community are invited to participate in Facilitator Workgroups or complete an online Campus Climate Survey feedback form in preparation for the upcoming Campus Climate Survey.

What is campus climate?

Campus climate includes behaviors in a workplace or learning environment, ranging from subtle to cumulative to dramatic, that can influence whether an individual feels personally safe, listened to, valued, and treated fairly and with respect.

What are Facilitator Workgroups?

Facilitator Workgroups provide opportunities for members of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and the Climate Survey Advisory Group (CSAG) to hear from various groups at St. Thomas about their perspectives on the university’s campus climate – its strengths and weaknesses.

The information shared by the workgroups will be analyzed by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and used to develop effective research questions. These workgroups are not brainstorming sessions to create survey questions but rather an opportunity to engage in conversation and receive feedback that will be used to discover the research questions.

It’s important to note that an audio of the sessions will be recorded to ensure a correct interpretation of what is being shared at the workgroups. The recordings will be deleted after analysis is completed.

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness offers two means for feedback from the campus community:

  1. Attend one of the Facilitator Workgroups listed below.
  2. Complete an online form and answer the same questions that are asked at the Facilitator Workgroups. Click here to fill out the online form.

The Campus Climate Survey will be administered in February 2013. Click here for more details on the upcoming and past Campus Climate Surveys.

The surveys have distinctive components for faculty, other components for staff and still others for students; therefore, these groups will be maintained in the Facilitator Workgroups and scheduled on different days.

When registering for a workgroup, participants will be asked to choose their classification (faculty, staff or student) and then a date and time. Only available dates will display on the registration form.
