Career Development Center announces November seminars

The Career Development Center is located in Room 350, Murray-Herrick Campus Center. Stop in during office hours to visit with the center’s staff and take advantage of its facilities and resources. Listed below are seminars that can help you find the job for which you’ve been searching. All sessions will be held in Room 355, Murray-Herrick Campus Center. Register online.

Résumé Writing and Job-Seeking Letters

Does your résumé pass the 30 second test? Learn what employers look for when screening résumés. If you have a résumé draft, bring it to the seminar. The focus will be on developing a targeted résumé that transfers your experiences into marketable skills. Cover letters also will be discussed briefly.

Learn effective interviewing skills.  Get tips on preparation, appearance, selling yourself and follow-up techniques.

Evaluating and Negotiating Job and Internship Offers

Are you wondering how to evaluate a job offer? Do you know the current salary range and benefit options for your career field? This seminar will provide a guideline for accepting positions and information on how to negotiate job offers.

This seminar will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10.

Job and Internship Fair

The Minnesota Private Colleges Job and Internship Fair is open to all undergraduate students at UST. This event will be held in late February with advance registration held on campus through Dec. 22. Students interested in participating in the fair need to attend one of the information sessions, if they have not done so in the past. More information about the fair and dates for the sessions can be found on the Career Development Center ’s Seminars and Events Web site or look for a special flyer promoting this event.
