Commuter Center and Off-Campus Services announces new housing-listing Web site

The University of St. Thomas Commuter Center and Off-Campus Services has rolled out its newly built housing listings Web site. The new site appears and operates differently, but at its core it remains the same – a place for people to post properties and where others, particularly UST students, can find the information.

Here are some of the changes:

  • Property listers now are required to create a profile with an e-mail attached to it (will not be displayed). All listings posted will be attached to this profile and will be easy to find if needed.
  • A “Contact Listing Owner” feature that does not display a poster’s e-mail and has a bot-check to drastically reduce spam and scam e-mails will be available.
  • The opportunity to upload images to a listing will be beneficial to listers and potential renters.
  • A Google Map feature displays the location of the property and can plot the distance between it and the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses.

These are just some of the changes. This new system represents a drastic improvement to the previous site. As with any new Web service, some initial challenges and kinks may need to be worked out. Please be patient as Commuter Center and Off-Campus Services staff continue to improve the system.
