Credit Union Offers Santa Special Loan

Once again this year the St. Thomas Employee Federal Credit Union is offering a $1,000 Santa Special loan to any eligible member who needs a bit of financial help specifically for the holidays. This loan is available to any credit union member in good standing who has a Beacon (Equifax credit bureau) credit score of 600 or higher; there will be no exceptions to this requirement.

The interest rate for the loan is 10 percent, and the maximum term is one year. Payment on a $1,000 loan at 10 percent for one year is $40.49 for 26 payroll deduction payments, assuming that the first payment is made 14 days after the loan is disbursed.

Santa Special loans will be available from Monday, Nov. 18, through Friday, Dec. 20, and can be applied for immediately.

Applications can be requested:

  • In person during open hours from noon to 3 p.m. Mondays or from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at the credit union office, Room 209, Loras Hall;
  • By phone, (651) 962-6660; or,
  • Via email.

Applications also are available in a rack across the hall from the credit union office any time that Loras Hall is open.

Note that the $40,000 cumulative loan limit to any one member at any one time is still in effect, but this Santa Special loan can be had in addition to both the regular signature loan and the High Beacon Signature loan that currently are offered at the credit union.
