Dr. David West to present 'The Death of Agile – Business Ecology – and the Future of Software Development'

Dr. David West, consultant, author and former faculty member in UST’s Graduate Programs in Software Department, will speak on the future of software development on Wednesday, Oct. 14.

West’s presentation, “The Death of Agile – Business Ecology – and the Future of Software Development,” will be held from 6:40 to 9 p.m. in 3M Auditorium, Room 150, Owens Science Hall. Refreshments will be served at intermission. A social hour and pizza dinner from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. will precede the talk.

This event is free for all UST students, staff and faculty; bring UST ID. The event also is open to the public; the cost is $20 for general admission. Registration is required by Wednesday, Oct. 7. To register, e-mail the Object Technology User Group.

West has been a consultant, speaker and educator in the area of software development for more than 30 years. He specializes in systems design, objects, agility and business-IT integration. He taught at St. Thomas for 10 years.

West is author of the book Object Thinking, and he is co-writing a book on leveraging IT for business innovation, agility and adaptability (due November 2009). He currently is developing radically different software and systems design curriculum in New Mexico.
