Counseling and Psychological Services Offers Four Student Groups This Fall

Counseling and Psychological Services is offering four student groups this semester. Meeting with other people to share common concerns is a great way to gain support and to learn new coping strategies when feeling sad, overwhelmed or confused. Call (651) 962-6780 (St. Paul) or (651) 962-4750 (Minneapolis) to schedule a brief intake interview.

Eating Disorder Recovery Group

This group is designed to provide students in recovery from an eating disorder the opportunity to share common concerns and gain strategies for maintaining recovery. The completion of a structured eating disorder treatment program is not required. Students should have an awareness and acceptance of a current or previous unhealthy relationship with food, eating or body image and be committed to continuing recovery. The group will meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursdays in Room 370, Murray-Herrick Campus Center. For more information email Deb Broderick or Emily Buoen, or call (651) 962-6780.

Grief and Loss Group

The goal of this group is to enable students to confidentially share their feelings related to experiences of grief and loss. They will meet with others in a supportive atmosphere and learn how to accept and understand some of the difficult emotions they may be experiencing. The group will meet from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays in Room 370, Murray-Herrick Campus Center. For more information email Sarah Armstrong or Anne Perkins, or call (651) 962-6780.

Relationships Group

Students who are interested in learning how to improve their relationships will benefit from this group. Members will be able to explore their interpersonal and communication styles and learn additional relationship-building skills. The group will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays in Room 370, Murray-Herrick Campus Center. For more information email Steve Maurer or Kristina Reigstad, or call (651) 962-6780.

Relaxation and Stress Management Workshop – Minneapolis campus

Stressing about class? Having trouble sleeping? Worrying a lot? It’s not surprising – you’re in college – but it doesn’t have to stay this way. Learn how to manage stress the healthy way. This six-week workshop is hosted by Counseling and Psychological Services on the Minneapolis campus. The group will meet from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays in Room 110 (in the Health Services suite), Terrence Murphy Hall. For more information email Miriam Gerber or call (651) 962-4750.
