Committee Promotes Acts of Kindness Today With Flower Power

Despite the snow we had yesterday, it really is spring. To prove it, the Acts of Kindness Committee is handing out flowers today.

The Actis of Kindness Committee believes in kindness through flower power!

The Acts of Kindness Committee believes in kindness through flower power!

Watch for committee members distributing carnations on the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses. Pick up your flower in front of Murray-Herrick Campus Center starting at 11:30 a.m. or in Food for Thought starting at noon.

Those who nominate someone for the Acts of Kindness Award also will receive a package of M&Ms. The Acts of Kindness Award is a traveling trophy that is presented to a person or a group. The UST community is invited to nominate a student, faculty or staff member, an organization or a department that has done something kind to make St. Thomas a great place to learn, work or live.

Fill out the form on the Acts of Kindness website and email it to actkind@stthomas.edu or mail it to Terri Sheehan, Mail AQU 217.

Remember, take time to be kind. It’s easy; here are some ideas:

  • Share a smile
  • Drive courteously
  • Give a flower
  • Listen with your heart
  • Help a neighbor do yard work
  • Offer a hug
  • Pick up litter
  • Say “hello”
  • Call a lonely person
  • Open a door
  • Help carry a load
  • Eat lunch with someone new
  • Cheer up a friend
  • Thank a teacher
  • Read to a child
  • Write a thank-you note
  • Tutor a student
  • Give a compliment
  • Forgive mistakes

The UST Acts of Kindness Campaign, which identifies, promotes, supports and inspires acts of kindness across the UST community, was created by the Office for Mission and Edna Comedy, associate vice president of human resources.
