Director of Athletics Offers Pregame Tips for Football Showdown Saturday

When the undefeated and third-ranked football Tommies take on archrival St. John's University this Saturday, Oct. 1, Steve Fritz, director of athletics, is hoping the crowd will be proud, loud, purple, early and respectful.

To accommodate what is expected to be a standing-room-only crowd, 2,500 seats will be built in the north end zone for St. Thomas students.

Fritz adds:

  • UST undergrad students are admitted free with a valid ID.
  • UST faculty and staff are admitted free with a valid ID.
  • Join the Tommie student section – 2,500 seats in the north end zone.
  • Wear purple.
  • Be respectful in the type of Tommie wear you sport. Shirts of poor taste will not be allowed. Be proud to be a Tommie and support the positive aspects of this rivalry.
  • Come early. The gates will open at 11 a.m. for the 1:10 p.m. kickoff.

"Let’s make this a sea of purple and cheer the Tommies on to victory," Fritz remarked. "Go Tommies!"
