Great American Smokeout is Nov. 15

Thursday, Nov. 15, is the Great American Smokeout – a good day to kick the habit.

The Wellness Center will host an informational table during the convo hour Tuesday, Nov. 13, on the second floor of the Anderson Student Center. Staff will be available to provide smoking cessation resources to those who want to quit smoking.

St. Thomas’ Student Health Services and the Wellness Center list tips and resources below.

Reasons to stop smoking:

  • Breath will be sweeter.
  • Partner won’t feel like they're kissing an “ashtray.”
  • Teeth will be whiter.
  • Hair and clothes won’t smell like smoke.
  • Car will smell cleaner.
  • Skin and voice won’t age prematurely.
  • Have more stamina.
  • Sleep better.
  • Reduce the risk of infertility.
  • Be less likely to develop deep lines around corners of the mouth and eyes.
  • Have less colds and flu.
  • Miss less school or work as a result of illness.
  • Be a great role model for loved ones.
  • Feel proud of your accomplishment.
