The St. Thomas Green Team is teaming up with Volunteers in Action (VIA) to sponsor the annual fall cleanup of the banks of the Mississippi River from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23.
The University of St. Thomas, in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, takes responsibility for cleaning the east river bank from the Marshall-Lake Street bridge to the Ford Parkway bridge.
Whether to perform an act of kindness, enjoy a family outing, do a community service project or just to enjoy the beauty of the river colors and being outdoors, meet the Green Team at the World War I monument at the intersection of Summit Avenue and the East Mississippi River Boulevard – rain or shine. All ages are invited.
This is also an opportunity for UST clubs to earn volunteer hours. Club registers will be kept for the event.
Bring gloves, rakes, good shoes and enthusiasm. Bags and gloves will be provided for those who need them. Coffee and food treats will be available.
In addition to the Green Team and VIA, this event is sponsored by the Physical Plant, the Recycling Team, and the Minnesota DNR Adopt-a-River Program.
