Traditional bluegrass
An evening of bluegrass and old-time music – featuring The High 48s, alt-country singer-songwriter Robbie Fulks and jazz mandolin virtuoso Don Stiernberg - is coming to the auditorium of O’Shaughnessy Educational Center on the St. Paul campus of the University of St. Thomas.
The band’s second annual “Americana Music Concert” starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 2. Doors open at 7 p.m.
The High 48s is a traditional bluegrass band from the Twin Cities and winner of the RockyGrass Bluegrass Band Competition. The band's St. Thomas concert will celebrate the release of the its sixth album, “Great Northern Railroad,” a collection of original and classic train songs that was recorded in Nashville and produced by Grammy-winner Randy Kohrs.
The album includes original material by High 48s members Anthony Ihrig and Eric Christopher, as well as songs by Minnesota’s Becky Schlegel and Iowa’s Greg Brown and Linda Williams.
Tickets for the show are $15 for adults; kids under 12 are free.
