Owner-occupied home purchase assistance program continues at St. Thomas

St. Thomas is completing its sixth year of the Rental Housing Buyback program, which provides assistance to interested buyers in converting student rentals in the area around the St. Paul campus to owner-occupied dwellings.

The university has participated in the conversion and sale of 14 properties. With two closings scheduled within the next two weeks, the university will be more than halfway done with six years remaining to complete the project of converting 30 rental houses. The conversions are prescribed by the August 2004 Conditional Use Permit the university signed with the city of St. Paul.

For more information about (or to participate in) the program call John Hershey, University of St. Thomas Neighborhood Liaison, (651) 962-6123.
