Human Resources Introduces MetLaw, a Voluntary Group Legal Benefit

The University of St. Thomas will make available MetLaw, a voluntary group legal services benefit administered by Hyatt Legal Plans, to all benefits-eligible employees (i.e., active employees working in regular positions and approved to work at least 25 hours per week). Eligible employees who elect this coverage are responsible for paying all premiums.

MetLaw is designed to provide telephone and in-office consultations and legal representation with network attorneys for a variety of issues, such as:

  • Estate-planning documents
  • Traffic offenses
  • Financial matters
  • Real estate matters
  • Document preparation
  • Elder law matters
  • Juvenile court defense
  • Family law matters

Enrollment will be open for this benefit from Sept. 10 to Sept. 21, with the benefit effective Oct. 1. Enrollment also will be available annually during the annual enrollment period.

Later this week faculty and staff will receive an email with more information about MetLaw. More can be learned about MetLaw on its website or by attending one of the educational sessions on the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses. Sign up for sessions through The Leadership Academy.
