In Our Prayers: Remembering Terry Peck

The University of St. Thomas mourns the loss of former Tommie Tennis head coach Terry Peck, 78, who passed away during his battle with cancer on Aug. 15.

Peck’s career as the head coach for both the Tommie Men’s and Women’s Tennis program spans 26 years (1993-2019). Terry also spent six years as an assistant coach for the program before eventually becoming head coach, worked as an adjunct professor at St. Thomas over the course of three decades and served as the director of tennis at the St. Thomas Summer Tennis Club.

Terry won the conference MIAC Men’s Coach of the Year during his first season as head coach in 1993 when he led the Tommies to the national NCAA tournament. That same season he led the women’s squad to an NCAA tournament and a top 10 national ranking.

Terry also became a published author after writing “Drill Formula.”

The St. Thomas community offers prayers and condolences to Terry’s wife Mary Jo; daughter, Kelly; son, Tanner; the Peck, Lanners and Kastner families; and to all of his family, friends, players and loved ones.
