English professor Todd Lawrence, center, works to document and archive plywood boards salvaged from around the Twin Cities following this previous summer’s civil unrest, on January 25, 2021 in Northeast Minneapolis. The initiative, Save the Boards to Memorialize the Movement, includes a partnership with the University of St. Thomas Art History department.

In the News: How a Database Unites Destinations Through Their Street Art

Three St. Thomas professors, Dr. Todd Lawrence, Dr. Paul Lorah and Dr. Heather Shirey, have spent the last year creating a database of urban protest art related to the death of George Floyd. They have created an archive of over 1,800 images which reflect on cultural significance of the protests and their work was featured in an article by PCMA.
