Informal gatherings to discuss The Handmaid's Tale

The English Department, with additional funding support provided by the Luann Dummer Center for Women, has organized informal book club gatherings to discuss Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid's Tale. Atwood’s dystopian novel is the common text for all students in ENGL 111 and ENGL 190 this semester.

These one time, one-hour book club gatherings of up to 10 people will be hosted by a volunteer UST student, faculty or staff member from outside of the English Department and will be offered at various locations and times throughout the week of Sept. 24.

Registration for these book clubs is open to all UST staff, faculty and students who have read the text and would like to talk with others about it in an informal nonclassroom setting. Online registration is available here.

Questions about these book clubs can be directed to the English Department, (651) 962-5600. Additional information about the common text program and other common text events can be found on the English Department Web site.
